Awards and Financial Aid helps students obtain the funds necessary to finance their UNBC education and to provide educational budgeting services. Funds may be obtained from a variety of sources, including government and bank loans, private, corporate, and public scholarships and bursaries, and UNBC awards.
2020-2021 UNBC Award Competition
Students can check the status of their award applications by logging into their online Student Services via www.unbc.ca / MyUNBC portal and following the Awards & Financial Aid tab to the Award Applications page (see below for more information on what to look for).
How to Check the Status of Your Award Applications
All applicants* for the main 2020-2021 UNBC Award Competitions can check the status of their award applications by logging in to their www.unbc.ca MyUNBC / Awards & Financial Aid / Award Application portal.
If an award offer has been emailed, you will see a change from "New Application" to "Offer Sent" under the Status column. If you see the "offer sent" notation then check your email box (according to the info below) as all the award information you need to know will be emailed to you.
If you do not see the above, it means no offer has been sent. The Awards & Financial Aid Unit does try to give awards to as many students as possible, but due to the eligibility, criteria and number of awards available - it may not be possible for all students to receive an award. Keep applying as each award competition is different, new awards are created, depending on the number of students applying for each competition the pool of eligible applicants may change, you may need to supply additional documents (see the "Application Instruction" area of each award description for this information), etc..
If given an award, the award offer email will indicate: a) what award your received, b) the award's terms and conditions for acceptance, and c) the "Notification of Award Acceptance" slip which you will need to fill out and return, along with d) a "Donor Thank You Letter" if applicable (info on whether a donor thank you letter is required will be within the award offer letter).
The fastest way to submit the "Notification of Award Acceptance" slip and, if applicable, the Donor Thank You Letter is by scanning/emailing a pdf/MS Word document/or a picture attachment via: firstname.lastname@example.org .
* Exceptions are applicants to Graduate Studies who have not received a formal offer of admission will NOT have access to the MyUNBC / Awards & Financial Aid / Award Application portal. These applicants would have to wait for the timeline dates below to see if they received an award offer via their email address.
