The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are part of a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future.
Realizing a critical link between the SDGs and youth participation, and the roles of academic institutions in filling existing gaps, UNBC is hosting its first SDGs Training Forum to inspire interest in the SDGs and spark SDG initiatives and leadership in Prince George.
Organized by the UNBC Sustainability Office and Prince George Public Interest Group, the forum will bring together a diverse array of participants, including local environmental groups and organizations, UNBC & CNC students, high school students, UNBC faculty, and community members.
This unique forum will consist of four modules, three of which will be facilitated by a UN official.
The confirmed UN Official Speaker for the event is Julie Marshall - Canadian Spokesperson and Strategist Communications Lead for the World Food Programme (WFP) in Canada.
The fourth module will be a 'break-out' session, during which participants will join discussion groups based on whichever of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals is of most interest to them.
The break-out session will also be an opportunity for initiating collaboration on tangible action projects within our community.
Event registration closes Oct. 12.
Registration fees are $10 for students and $15 for community members; lunch will be provided. If you require vegan or gluten-free options, please contact Christiana Onabola at this email: email@example.com
